Our 1st day in the Philippines

The Speirs meet The Tyes

We arrived in the Philippines on June 29th after 30 hours of travel.  The next morning a van picked us up and drove us to the Cavite Mission Home in Muntinlupa where we met President and Sister Tye.  They could be our dear friends, but we only had 2 1/2 hours together.  After a tour of the Mission Home, Sister Tye gave me a brief run down on all my responsibilities, while Aaron and President Tye spoke together.

One last goodbye before the Tyes left us all alone. (sigh)
When the time came, it was hard to watch the Tye's leave.  Hard for us, and I assume even harder for them to leave.  President and Sister Tye have devoted 24 hours a day for three years to the Missionaries in the Cavite Mission.  As they walked away, they turned back several times.  We watched them slowly leave the home and life they have loved for 3 years.  We stood on the porch, waving as they drove away.  They will be missed.  It was a strange feeling to walk inside a home which is now ours, close the door behind us, look at each other - both of us thinking the same thing.  This is it.  This is real.  Our time is now!
